Monday, July 27, 2009 HAPPY 57TH BIRTHDAY TO MY DADDY! its his big day and was granted two days leave, so i had to travel to portsdown myself. that dreadful 5.50am! however i am proud to say: i am on time! the new alarm tone works perfectly for me, and with that morning call from seng how, there were totally no reason to be late. at work, i wished time would fast forward to 5.45pm, so i can rush home to meet mama. (mama= paternal grandmother) daddy should be picking her up from her place by now. like recent past years, she would join us for dinner and cake cutting, stay over for a night and do a lot of catching up with my parents. we may not talk a lot, simply because i cannot speak hokkien, but i miss her a lot. she will be happy to know my knee has recovered, although it will be scarred. it was a fine day at work. soon it was 5.45pm and i met Joel on bus 74 to home. guys simply has no patience, they become so whinny when you make them wait just a little longer. Joel was really moody because he was tired, but could not catch a wink of sleep, so we watched Madagascar 2 on his mac book! this movie is worth 5 thumbs up! i was trying to contain my laughter in the moody ambiance. (you know, Singaporeans are usually emotionless in the bus) the jokes were damn cranky and all made sense! seriously the ride was really long, the movie reaches its climate when i was about to alight the bus. my eyes was glued to the screen, thankfully Joel was alert even though he dozed off. it was disappointment when i got home, i did not see mama's slippers at the door. mummy explained that she has other important matters to attend to. it was a pity she cannot join us. daddy drove us to Seletar Hills Road, and we had a good Chinese style feast! i have a few favourites. appetizer was good, especially authentic hainanese chicken slice. the chili sauce was excellent match with it, spicy yet manageable! Kong Ba Bao was great, fattening of course but the savoury gravy made up for it. the best was the fresh D24 durian pudding, every spoonful was heavenly, so smooth it melts in the mouth! we had our fill and headed home. a fruit cake sits in the fridge, which i more or less expected it. mummy favourite buy; you never go wrong with that! actually i feel sick of it already, just like we had ice cream cakes for daddy, mummy, Joel and myself, and for two conservative years, i will never want that again, period.   mummy's 54th is in a few days time. daddy suggested Sakura Int'l Buffet, but what about cake? i seriously need a healthier choice cake.
Sunday, July 26, 2009 its typical of me to laze at home on the weekend, especially when all plans were cancelled. somehow and somewhat, i stumble over an article on Harry Potter, (probably because of the neat look of Robert Pattinson) and google for more, where i found Harry Potter Wiki. i never expect it to be so interesting! so i took the chance to watch the movies- online. google is the best search engine, i simply key in "free movies online", and there i found high quality movies on Stagevu! they are uber clear and no subtitles, besides the brightness being a little dim. it was total entertainment when i put on Joel's powerful headphone. i probably wonder if i watch actually at Hogwarts! i dislike watching British production, i barely catch them behind their heavy accent, not anymore now. i understand word for word, to an extent i think subtitles is a nuisance. i was anticipating the appearance of Cedric Diggory in the Goblet of Fire. i like Robert Pattinson looking neat and clean, the perfect school crush guy. he looked terrible in person and claimed its his style. i have no doubt that he does not bathe and smells bad is true and not rumoured. The graphics look so real, especially that bloody huge python, damn holy shit! i kept reminding myself everything is a fantasy. the power of darkness grew stronger with the return of Voldemort... and its having an an imprint on me. If time allow, I will continue the saga with Order of the Phoenix. PS: Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) is a brainy beauty!
Friday, July 24, 2009 today marks my 100th day as an intern! McValue Lunch at HarbourFront Centre with my colleagues. totally a good start for weekend! the ride to the carpark was an experience. i see Sentosa and the cruise harbour on the way up, beautiful. damn Boona drives his van like F1, and without no seat belts on the sofa (was seated on the cabin), i practically swing left and right, bang forward and flew backwards! it was terrifying with high excitement value! if you wanna try crazy taxi in real life, take his van. i swear weaklings (like me) will suffer motion sickness. i was totally in the mood for shopping, so i met up with Joel and headed for Ion. damn it, he made me waited for 35 minutes outside SP. how nice huh! and damn again, Ion was freaking packed! i feel so dizzy by the crowd and noises. the layout is kind of complicated, slopes up and down and several roundabouts. i still like it better than Vivo, at least you would drop dead walking from an corner to the other. the ground levels and above are where the branded lies, we commoners would perfer the basements. Joel and I explored for two hours, also in search for good food, but we headed to tayashimaka instead. the eateries are neither full or has a long quene. (we walked the basments thrice for that) there i had my very first bowl of Ajisen ramen! i never had one because people tell me the taste is lousy. but Joel thought otherwise. (its worth a try from a recommendation by a thrifty boy) i took just 10 seconds on the menu, and there i found my favourite- scallops ramen! pretty generous serving with 8 piece of scallops, pretty sweet and chewy, which marks it is fresh. the milk soup was a bit of a turn-off because it caused heatiness in my mouth, along with the fried cuttlefish i could feel my gums are burning! the hearty dinner made me not wanting to move an inch. FATTY TUMMY IS GROWING! all in all we took photos with our camera phone. i shall post it really soon, meanwhile, they all can be found on facebook. another three weeks before i end my internship. i am already missing my workplace and colleagues.

Monday, July 20, 2009 to my horror i realised I MIGHT BE AGEING ALREADY! i was browsing through the photos taken just yesterday, at HSBC treetop walk (i uploaded it on facebook)... I LOOKED SO PLAIN! it could be signs of fatigue, since i helped Ivy in her project and went for a crazy birthday party the day before! but i would not look that bad right? my smiles looked so stiff, too. i guess weina was right. i should try putting on some make up for the next photo shoot. if that little touch up works, i will concede defeat to time and ageing. PS: i hope i was just being extremely tired after an eventful weekend!
Sunday, July 19, 2009 i took on HSBC Treetop Walk, an I&E event organised by twin, gloria and team. i swear the trail to the bridge was tough. we marched through the uneven trail. up and down, up and down again. my feet were sore, all thanks to the uneven rocks. i was looking on the ground most of the time, just in case the undesired happens. (since to trip and fall is my forte) it was a pity i missed the gorgeous scenic above me. we reached the suspension bridge after 2-3 hours. its pretty unbelievable to have yourself standing above a forest. thats why they call it a tree-TOP walk mah! for spit seconds i thought i was not in Singapore. you seriously dont get to see such a sight on any regular day! the view was beautiful but i was expecting more... like monkeys swinging from tree to tree?' maybe there is... i just didnt notice! the group was divided later into two at a junction, where one will end their stay and the other to Jelutong tower. i was hungry for more, so i proceed on to Jelutong tower. the trail was short and much more manageable, i could see the tower from afar! the way up to the metal tower was no joke! (notice that the tower is made of metal) it was a good climb almost equivalent to the climb up 6-7 storey, before i could recover my breath, the magnificent scenery took it away. from there i see MacRitche Reservoir, and not too far from it i spotted a Jelutong tree. you can totally tell because it stands out from the rest. i guess that is how the tower got its name. the tower was trembling whenever someone comes up; very scary! it was an great workout and I SWEAT A LOT! the company of people made the walk more enjoyable! especially when clarinda, jiaying and i held hands and walked together, it was like a field trip during primary school. Thank You twin for inviting me! Gloria and team, you guys did great! we spilt up again, where some of us headed to Bugis by bus. everyone dozed off, and with only miss no-sense-of-direction CHAN JIAYING awake, we all sat the way to Kallang Station where the bus terminate. NICE ONE! we further spilted up again during the train ride, clarinda jiaying twin and myself heading to Bugis Junction. we had Pepper Lunch at the Food Court. they gave very little meat. but taste wise; amazing! i picked up a little bit of the raw flesh (before it is cooked)... woah, heavenly fresh and good! it would be better if someone could instantly bring me sashimi! HAHA! after lunch clarinda left to meet her family. i am the lightbulb once again, and an extremely bright one because i wore bright yellow. we headed to Ah Chew Dessert at Seah Imm Road. there i proclaimed twin as intelligently unabled. do not ask me how i come up with it, (yes i created it because you can never find the words in a dictionary!) he must had made me pissed off, or something close to that! after all, HE IS REALLY ONE what; his girl agreed to it too. as for the dessert, it was not satisfying, not cold enough to cool us down and the flavor was not to my liking. i will try Ji Den Chi during my next visit. on a lighter note, i got myself a lovely Hello Kitty Laptop case! its printed both sides, totally saved me from the trouble of choosing between black or red. jiaying gave each side a meaning or rather a sign. i dont remember which side means what already. someone has to remind me on that.

Monday, July 13, 2009 I was reading an article on Rachel Kum. It was not until I hear about her scandalous news over the radio, I would not know she is Miss Singapore Universe 2009. Her scandalous photos, although not identified when they were taken, Have her posing with a sex toy and chewing on male’s gential, Caused a spur among the netizen. They believe she deserve her title strip off. It was later reported that those photos were taken during two occasions, On her 21st birthday and Hallowen. It made sense to me, though. Take a closer look at those scandalous photos and her recent shots. She had different hair shades, previously brown and now black. I had to agree with the Netizens that she looks quite sluttish in those photos. Perhaps some guys were drooling in wild imaginations. But she looks more like she was having fun, party fun, Not those kind of sexually wanting look you know. The Netizens should not make such harsh comments. She was then an ordinary citizen of Singapore, Given the fact that Singaporeans are more “opened up” now, this is one theme we would like to try out, very typical of us. Moreover, it was done when she turns legal 21, I do not see any wrong with that. I mean, before you speak ill about her, Are you sure your mother/ daughter/ sister/ cousin/ girlfriend has never done something similar or close to that? Singaporeans Netizens should shut up and reflect on themselves. Next up: Megan Fox She is the bad girl in the new thriller Jennifer’s Body. All my guy friends would be thrilled to see her stripped. It was rumored that Megan Fox is a man. Absolutely rubbish, my past experience (identifying trans) tells me she is way too hot to be one. After looking at MJ, I am very doubtful Fox is a work of art by comestic surgery. He paid so much but ended up with such an upset tip-pointing-to-the-ceiling nose. I found an article at weekly world news, Where they say: "today she (Fox) has cleared the air and officially reported: she’s really a man." The article sounded just like a hidden secret being unfolded. Is Weekly World News a reliable source for information? This is totally unbelievable! Even she was born Mitchell Reed Fox not Megan Fox, she is totally worth drooling for. There was one thing I am unsure of, is her boobs for real? Anyway, Jennifer’s Body will be screened in Singapore 29 October. Would not if be a pleasure to be killed by a gorgeous lady? hahahaha... *evil laughters*
Friday, July 10, 2009 I took a half-day leave. I could have taken a full day leave but oh well, My sups are waiting for my weekly report (have to submit by noon). I crapped it out because there was nothing much to write... Just for today, I wanted every minute to go by faster than usual. I was too eager to meet them. Terror crawls in around 10am when everyone was absorbed in our own tasks. The computer screen went blank all of a sudden, then the ceiling lights. It was pitch dark until seconds later the emergency lamps are activated. This spells a BLACKOUT! There are very few things I am utterly afraid of, darkness ranks top on my chart. Zi thought the whole room turns to cosy mode, while I was so freak out and wanted to scream! Having some fresh air was a better option, so I leave the container for a while. (You must be laughing by now; seriously I got nothing to be ashamed of) Darkness fills the room I went back in. Still, I was startled by some sudden flashback. Everyone started chatting so it was less scary. The always-missing manager came back too (what a timing), And shared his live shooting experience in India while serving NS. You will be amused by how much our government is spending on the Military. I thought the blackout was a big woo-ha, In fact, it happens almost every month! No wonder all the staff here was so calm. I dont quite remember how the day was spent after that, but surely it went by very quickly. I left the container a little later than noon, And met a cross-racial family on my way, Her father is Malay and her mother, a Chinese. That explains why their daughter speaks good English. She was speaking at the top of her voice, Totally thrilled to tell her parents she is turning 5 years old. Instead of asking for a present, She promised to buy her mother 5 sets of cosmetics and for her dad 5 Songkok. Her parents simply smile. Did I promise something similar to my parents too? Even if I did, I cannot recall at all. I would be touched if I am a parent too. I would not expect anything materialistic from a child, It is the thought that matters, Because this is one of the most genuine gifts you can ever get. ... ... ... I met up with Audrey, Geok and Vivien at Clarke Quay Station while Vincent joined us later. We had Manhatten Fish Market for lunch! People please drool! The food was good (better than fish n co) but the waiting time sucks. I just love the fact that we are ridiculously noisy! Two makes a classroom. Three makes a wet market. Four and more makes… you would not want to imagine that! We were yanking away at the top of our voices, Especially where the restaurant was quite empty since the lunch crowd has gone. We took lots of photos before we leave the Central. Our jump shot in front of Singapore River was the best. We were beautiful captured in mid air despite using self-portrait mode! Many thanks to Vincent who caught the timing well! We could have spend more time at Central (and take more photos!), But I was called back for a briefing. I was late so we cab back to school from Dover MRT. The driver almost missed a few turns in NP, simply because we were too noisy! The girls were talking loudly while I gave directions to LT51. Due to the noise, he says he could not tell what left from right! Amazing right? We are destructive! When we reach home, we gathered strength and became noisier! Of course, we took many groups photos before the event started. Overall, the AGM was good. It was even better after the event when I (kind of) took over as emcee. I was trying to ra-ra the 5th committee to sit down, Little I expect the 6th committee to settle down as well. So they join us to watch. The video received greater responds than I expected! Everyone loved it! Good thing the music did not tamper the video's mood! So many classic events were mentioned and presented again LIVE! In fact, some were politics. They turned out to be funny reminiscences that brought us no tension! I laughed until my throat damn dry lah! I do wonder if the 6th committee understands what was going on. Nevertheless, the AGM ended with a high note! You know, there are times where you say: I should have done this so… For once, I leave an event was no regrets! After which, we had dinner at Clementi Ave 2 and Ice Cream in the neighborhood! It was a great day spent! (You can totally tell from the length of this post) I have not in such high spirits for a long time! Thank You, MDES 5th Management Committee! I love you guys! (this post will explain why i am absent from blogging when i really wanted to for the whole of this week) I was totally worn out after two sleepless nights. It has nothing to do with insomnia or anything close to it… I was secretly making a video as a tribute for my peers at MDES 6th AGM. It was Huiping who inspired me about two weeks ago. I browsed and picked some nice shots from my collection, Where I found other shots that bring back good memories with a laugh. The idea of making an insanely “awful” video strikes my mind that instant. It would be great if we can step down with a high note. Actual work only starts exactly one week before AGM, Audrey was first to know when I show her some photos with captions. For the whole week, I stole time off to do the video at work. I did not have exact plan or concept for it, So I spend hours editing the video clips. As soon as the first and last part were done, Everything came to a standstill, I was desperate for ideas. The photos were relocated several times, The captions were changed over and over again. Other than part two of the video, The rest were done thoroughly with a theme. I could turn to Ivy and Zi. They were the first two person who saw the completed parts. SM helped check out for errors in the short introduction I wrote, Despite him being so exhausted for the wrong reasons. (HAHA!) I was totally drained out by Thursday. I slept on the desk at work for almost an hour, And dropped died on the bed when I got home. Those hours of sleep gave me some energy to go on… Everything only falls in place only at wee hours on Friday. A tribute will never be complete without music! I had finally come to where I dread the most… Even since I learn to make video clips, I hate this part totally. My own play list is hopeless. Surprisingly, the songs that came to my mind works for most parts. I got stuck with part one for an hour. (Working with the last few parts first) No songs seem to work on it because they are too hyped up. My apology to everyone, I know I strewed the music totally.
Thursday, July 2, 2009 I want to watch this movie again: DANCE! SUBARU (i just could not upload the picture!) still available at Cathay Orchard! THUMBS UP! it is a great dance movie. they artistically portray the techniques and emotions of the various genres, yet not compromising in the expression of struggle, growth and bonding of a true dancer. i did not expect myself being so addicted to the movie. it all started out with Jac and K being excited over the appearance of TQVX, (i would have miss that movie if they werent featured in it!) and they were only onscreen for barely 1-2 minutes? at the end, i was more emotional than them. i was regretful that i could not turn my passion for dance into skills. her passion and preservance moved me into tears, hell lots of tears! whatever it is, i reckon a chance to perform dance on stage again. am i too old for that?
